Overview I CERV
 

The European center for virtual reality (CERV) is a public-sector research center of the l'Ecole Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Brest engineering school. The CERV's creation was initiated by the ENIB's IT Engineering laboratory (LI2). It has been operational since June 2004, and occupies premises of 2,000 m² on the Technopôle Brest-Iroise site. In Brest, it is part of a cluster based on the theme of Information and Communications Science and Technology (ICST).

The CERV in Brest is a center of excellence in virtual reality with a European calling. It takes part in producing, disseminating and developing knowledge; combining, on the same site:

  • an inter-institutional research center to bring together the work of various research teams by favoring virtual reality's multidisciplinary calling,
  • a development center to foster relations between research and enterprises, based on innovative projects using virtual reality,
  • a virtual reality training center,
  • a virtual reality discovery center to raise awareness about the science and technology of the future with schoolchildren and the general public.
